about

I’m sure I’m not the first to describe our global slide into chaos and disarray as a “slow decline,” but I still find an apt descriptor. The changes are noticeable and measurable, but they are also easy to ignore. Mired in our day-to-day, weighed down by personal turmoil, it's hard to listen to cries for help when they don't harmonize with our own songs of distress. It's hard to listen when you're too busy speaking. This song eulogizes the destruction of our livable Earth and laments the tragically ironic economic opportunity it presents to the present-day robber barons and overlords who hold so many fates in their hands. It's a fun song about the end of the world, if such a thing exists.

lyrics

Brace yourself it’s extinction season
Abandon hope, sanity and reason
Another planet's waiting for our plastic
The economic opportunity is priceless and tragic

Settle in and draw your loved ones nearer
It’s getting hot, it’s getting cold, it’s getting clearer
Another life, another island's missing
Can you repeat yourself? I'm just too busy speaking to be listening

Cause we’re on a slow decline
It’s living hell we’re living through
We’re on a slow decline
It’s living hell we’re living through

Noisy summers, silent winters fleeting
Stable seasons only ever when I’m dreaming
Calling out, asking “How can this be real?”
You told me once but I clearly I just never learned how to deal

With all this slow decline — this living hell, we’re living through
We’re on a slow decline
I’m living hell, I’m living proof
We’re on a slow decline
It’s living hell but I’m living well with you
